Interlude...

Some days ago I got this email message

Estimado cliente, debido a un problema en nuestras instalaciones de fuerza mayor, nos hemos visto en la obligación de cerrar nuestro establecimiento hasta solventar este problema, según la política con university- rooms pagina intermediadora de reservas estamos en la obligación de realojarlos en un establecimiento de igual o superior categoría. El establecimiento que les hemos buscado se llama hostal mesones es de categoría superior y el precio es mas elevado pero la diferencia la abonamos nosotros, sé que en su caso particularmente estaba interesado en una parada de bus cercana que le dejara cerca del palacio de congresos, este establecimiento esta muy cerca de dicha parada, próximo al palacio de congresos y muy céntrico. Lo hemos elegido para perjudicarle lo menos  posible y para su mayor comodidad. Usted solamente tiene que abonar lo pactado, nosotros ya nos hemos puesto de acuerdo con ellos para abonar la diferencia.

I replied saying that I spoke English and would it be possible to translate. I gathered that there was an issue with my accommodation in Granada.  I got this reply...

So I contacted Mesons Hostal, just to confirm, and got a reply saying that they had no rooms available. At this stage I began to wonder if I was on the wrong end of a scam. I let Residencia Universttaria San Idelfonso know and they replied saying that that was the wrong hostal and that I was actually booked into Hostal Jardines. So I contacted them by email (all this was happening in Barcelona). Same negative response. At this point I decided for sure it was a scam!
